The four-person staff of the Foundation represents more than 40 years’ combined work experience in grantmaking, fundraising, finance, investments, and nonprofit management. The Foundation encourages its employees to volunteer their time for both professional and charitable organizations.


Michelle D. Monse

Michelle D. Monse joined the King Foundation in 2005 as executive director, and became president in 2006. In her professional career, she has also worked as a grants officer and fundraiser for a community foundation, administered a corporate foundation, directed a capital campaign for a historically black college, taught in three law schools, and practiced law in a Dallas law firm. She is a past president of Philanthropy Southwest, a 230-member association of grantmaking foundations in the Southwest, and has served on a number of other nonprofit boards. She is a frequent speaker to nonprofit and professional groups on grantmaking, fundraising, and related topics.


Laura L. Duty

Program Director
Laura L. Duty joined the King Foundation in 2007. She has been involved in the philanthropic world for more than 15 years, including overseeing a community foundation supporting several primarily rural counties in Central Texas. As a volunteer, she has helped plan annual conferences for the Council on Foundations and Philanthropy Southwest and was a reviewer for National Standards for community foundations. Laura often speaks on various aspects of grantmaking and other topics pertaining to nonprofit work.  She is a long-time volunteer with the Warm Place in Fort Worth as a group facilitator working with young teens who have lost a parent.
